
Valencia Clement, PhD, Principal Research Associate, is a versatile Haitian-American research professional and Vanderbilt University Posse Foundation Alumna from Queens, NY. Dr. Clement’s work blends her background as an accomplished mixed methods social scientist with her passion for activism and social justice. Her professional ethos is deeply rooted in principles of equity, justice, and counter-hegemony, epitomizing a steadfast commitment to promoting diversity, cultural sensitivity, inclusivity, and accessibility. Valencia completed her doctoral studies at Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University in 2022, focusing on Education Policy and Program Evaluation. Her dissertation, titled “Methodological Reparations: Queering empirical traditions and curricular approaches to address anti-Black racism, homophobia, and transphobia in education,” exemplifies her dedication to transformative and inclusive education practices. Dr. Clement’s analytical approach is distinctive for its human-centric perspective, marked by innovative strategies such as disaggregation, and the application of critical mixed methods to scrutinize both individual and systemic trends. Over the last four years, she has leveraged these skill sets and approaches to support program evaluations for learning organizations and foundations including HRSA, NSF, universities, community colleges and more.
