The Spartanburg Academic Movement worked with HEI to develop a community-wide plan to increase postsecondary attainment. While we knew the end result that we wanted, we needed help to get there. The HEI team was personable and took the time to understand our context and the key stakeholders. Their expertise in the subject matter and data helped to guide our process and knowledge of work in other communities informed our goals. HEI came in and helped us really understand the data and the market with respect to teacher education. The approach that they proposed to doing this work was really a collaborative one. They invested in a number of different data collection activities, that included interviews with people inside our organization as well as outside our organization. They spent a lot of time going deep within our organization and getting to know not just the leadership team but the faculty, students, and staff that are actually directly engaged.
